I sat down to decide what to write and had so many little topics and bullet points I wanted to share. So here they are and they are so random, so please let me know if you like this post and what I shared. I can keep doing them!
My 3 go-to electrolytes are LMNT, Buoy, and a new one called Instant Hydration that is similar to LMNT but has less salt.
A nasal spray like XClear, Citridrops, or Bee Propolis spray is so handy to have around and spray when you go out and about. Viruses are often transmitted through the nasal passages and spraying the nasal spray can help neutralize the virus before it has time to replicate and make you sick. Many nasal spray options are on Fullscript (Not Citridrops though).
CoQ10 can be a great supplement to take if your body encounters a herx reaction or has a bump in the road. It helps mitochondria and can help ease the body’s response. You can get CoQ10 on Fullscript.
I have been working on the realization that my body knows better than my cognitive brain on what foods are “good” for me. There are a plethora of amazing foods we are given to eat by the Lord. And so often we think of food as good and bad and we think we know what is best to eat. This can be from diet culture or else healthy eating culture (like Keto, Paleo, AIP). I still eat a very whole foods and low sugar diet and stay away from the Standard American Diet (I think we all should). The only think I avoid now are gluten because my body is primed for celiac via genetic testing and family history, but I don’t have it and don’t want to trigger it, and foods that I feel really bad eating and things that spike my blood sugar. I have been trying more carbs and grains and doing so well. I can trust my body to communicate with me on what I eat. It is so stressful for ourselves to be constantly avoiding and and second guessing our food decisions. If you don’t feel stressed about your food, don’t worry about it. If you do, maybe begin to dig deeper on why you don’t eat certain foods. Can you trust your body to eat a wider variety of foods and don’t see them as “good” or “bad”.
People with mold can have a hard time absorbing vitamin D. I recommend a vitamin D3 + K2 supplement for most people in addition to getting outside in the sunshine and nature!
Chili is my go-to meal. I make an instant pot full of Chili every week. I even did it through the summertime. It is the perfect recipe to tweak and add a ton of veggies in it. My family eats it and it is a very common lunch reheated for me. I love adding peeled and chopped zucchini to mine and I rarely add beans because I don’t like beans in my chili. See, totally customizable :). I also use Soupercubes to freeze my chili because I do better with meat that isn’t leftover and increasing the histamines while sitting in the fridge.
Resting vs Moving?? Sometimes we think when we are tired, exhausted or symptomatic we need more rest. What if you needed to move instead of rest? I love a good rest and I think we can get so busy and neglect rest. But what if you really needed to move? I am not talking about a big workout. I’m talking about movement in the form of stretching, cleaning, walking, and light exercise. It can really bring a peace and calm to the body that laying around and resting doesn’t always bring.
I am really digging into what I believe about health, how I think of it, how we get and stay healthy. And it is changing me so much, but I haven’t yet been able to really put it into words. I’ve not written about it, but hopefully soon I can get my thoughts on “paper” and share more. I have some real issues with the traditional functional medicine approach and I don’t think it is helping people as much as we think it is. And the answer is not just swinging the pendulum the other way into the standard American diet and lifestyle and throwing all healthy things away. There’s a balance and heart condition in how we look at health.
